re-start
Well, it been ages since I wrote in my website. So much has happened in the last ??
I’ve joined Ancestry.com and starting doing my family tree. At the same time as researching Alan’s tree. His is proving a bit more difficult as he was adopted. Anyway, I’ll keep plodding on and writing in here my successes or otherwise. If anyone does actually read this (I doubt ) I’m looking for details of my maternal Gma - Louisa Kelly nee Delaney. Also my maternal Grandads tree, which will be a bit difficult - name of Kelly (yes of the Isle of Man). You can view my family tree by going on to Ancestry.com and looking for louiseweaver19. Cheers.
Incompetence
I can’t stand incompetence. Particularly when it comes from those supposedly in authority. Let me explain. I’ve been looking for a new job, We need to move out of the area we’re in to be more central for Alan & David, and to have somewhere for my Mum to come and stay with us. So far so good. Anyway, I went for an interview when I was on holiday, I won’t say who with, but the main people in this job where official.
Just this last Thursday, the Personnel rang me to offer me the job - yippee. But then went on to say I was not to hand my notice in until all the necessary medical and police checks where done, and a reference received from my current employer - er hello, as soon as my current employer gets the ref. request I think he’ll know I’m wanting to leave.!! Anyway, the VERY NEXT day, my personnel person at our head office rang to ask why she had received this request - Oh for flips sake. Why couldn’t they have done the other checks FIRST, then asked for the ref. So, I’m now left in the uncomfortable position of not knowing whats going on, and my current employer knows i’m looking for a new job- not good. Then today, Tues, the ‘new’ personnel person rang to say they couldn’t find some required info regarding who lives at my address with me, and what happened to that piece of paper - I told her I had definitely put it in the envelope, but they must have lost it. So I had to ring Alan to get the relevant info, and she just said she hoped the ‘vetting’ people would be ok with that. hmmm. I’ll see what happens, but it isn’t looking good and my stress levels are high - I need a drink!!
Thursday/Newspaper day
The weather wasn’t brilliant today, more like autumn than nearly midsummer. We where reasonably busy in the shop today. Lots of visitors, mainly from the championship dog show that is on in Kelso this weekend. I believe there are about 300 caravans on the showground for the weekend.
Alan was leaving early this am to go and pick up his repaired car from Hawick - I just hope the other side of the suspension doesn’t go the same way. So, this morning I took our dog, Katy, for her morning constitutional, and she started limping on her back foot. Kind of hopping like Jack Russells do. I can’t find anything cut or swollen, so I thought I’d see what she was like for her evening walk.Well she was worse. But the strange thing is she’s not squeaking or howling like she normally does if she’s in pain. Greyhounds are such wimps. Usually the slightest knock or cut can set her off! If she’s no better by monday I’ll book her into the vets to see if they can find out whats wrong.
Back in Work
Back to work after my hols. Should be raring to go! It’s the summer sale in 3 weeks time- so I’m interested to see what we’re getting for the sale. If it hasn’t already been delivered that is. When Alan and I where in Keswick on holiday I wanted to go and have a snoop around the shoe shop, but I was told to stop as I should be getting away from work. But I did have time to notice that they had the ‘Think’ range of ToePost sandals £5 dearer than we have them. :-) Us girls just can’t help liking shoes and particularly checking out other shoe shops. It rained on and off today, more like Autumn than summer really. Alan rang me in the morning to tell me the suspension had just collapsed on his car - in the car park!!!. Told him he shouldn’t have bought a French car. He’s only had it a few months (y reg), and he’s had more than a few problems with it. The garage where picking it up and repairing it - under warranty!! It does make me wonder what else is wrong with it. I’m just glad it didn’t happen when he was driving it to work.
The cat was seen outside eating a mouse tonight. Obviously the cuisine in the house isn’t up to standard. It’s about time someone made a ‘mouse flavoured’ cat food.
Monday, last day of my hols.
Well, today is the last day of my holidays. Though officially its actually my day off, as I work every Saturday. The weather today was glorious so I spent a fair bit of time in the garden, trying to get rid of weeds. Then, being a Monday, it was RDA time at 12 noon. We decided it was too nice to be stuck inside an indoor school, so we took them for a walk through the village of Ford, to the river and back. The children love being outside on the ponies. I did a bit more gardening when I got back.
Alan, my other half spent all day in front of the pc, trying to make 1+1 make 500. Then I thought I’d better make a start on food as the hungry son (David) would be home soon and the first words he’ll say is “whats for tea, I’m starving”. Later on I had a phone call I’d been half expecting, from the person who has got my pony Charlie on loan to say they wanted to send him back to me as the child wasn’t interested. Which didn’t come as a surprise to me, but I thought it would take a little bit longer than 3 weeks. Ho Hum, back to the drawing board looking for someone who wants a 12hh pony on loan.
My day today
I noticed that the Laurel bushes are suffering from powdery mildew yesterday, I think it must be the lack of rain. So today I set about thinning them out a bit so they could get some air into the middle. Unfortunatley I think I’ve disturbed a small birds nest. I hope I haven’t scared her off completely. Anyway tomorrow I’ll be watering the Laurels to try to rescue them.
